It's one of my go-to shades of the season, and, well, let's just say that it plays nicely with other neutrals... What a colour. I would go so far as to say that I love it almost as much as I love — to quote one of the brightest minds of cinematic history — lamp. xx

{Valentine's Week} Pink + Red...

You guys know I'm a sucker for girlie, over-the-top proclamations of love and the like (ummm, hello!), so naturally a theme week was in order... First up, the colour scheme. Nothing says Valentine's day quite like a little pink-and-red action, so to honour that I went waaaay overboard with both. Typical. To bring this point home, let me tell you a little story: When I described this outfit to my friend Ashley yesterday, she lifted her hand, drew a deep breath and matter-of-factly said "no" before I could get past the varsity jacket. She was probably right but what can I say, I'm a sucker for a little festive colour blocking... Bring it on, Valentine's! xx

{Glitter Week} The Shoes...

Hello and welcome to a brand new theme week! This time, it's all about glitter... Because from clothing and accessories, to beauty and back, everything looks better with glitter, no?

I have a full week of glittery goodness planned for you guys, but let's kick things off (so to speak) with these sparkly loafers. They were a gift from my buddy Kastles last summer, and I couldn't love them more. Seriously now, they're comfy, cute and they take that whole "spring in your step" thing to a new level. What's not to love?

This week has taken a lot out of me, so I'm planning on having a quiet weekend at home with my gentleman. No plans, no obligations, just delightful nothingness... Doesn't that sound heavenly? I'm thinking movie marathons, magazines and cocoa by the fire, all the while sporting my new uniform of choice— pajamas. Don't let these photos fool you, I'm totally scrubbing it up this weekend! {Style} The Times Square Dress...

I don't know if you guys know this about me, but I have a major thing for silk; anytime I come into contact with it, I just can't resist it's — pardon the pun — silky goodness. So when Montreal's Boutique Onze offered me a giftcard to choose an item from their online shop, I was instantly drawn to this dress. I loved the style, colour and print, while the braided belt was the icing on the sartorial cake. It arrived on my doorstep three or so days after I placed my order, and was packed with a cute little tote and lollipop — How sweet! (Again, excuse the pun).

Fun fact? I actually wore this dress in, get this, Times Square last week while I was there! I didn't get a chance to take photos but believe me, it happened... And it was glorious ;)

I'm back from New York, and although my heart is heavy (Edmonton just doesn't quite compare!), I'm energized by my time there. All that hustle and pumped-up energy really inspired me to work twice as hard to achieve my goals (of which there are many), and I suddenly feel like the impossible is within reach... Talk to me in a few weeks when my NYC-high has faded, but for now let's just roll with it, shall we?

{Style Panel} Peplum & Polka Dots...

Peplum can be one of the most flattering, feminine silhouettes out there, but it can also be one of the least. Worn well (hello, Kate Middleton much?), it can yield diminutive waistlines and elongated figures. Worn poorly, and it can lead to exaggerated hips and unnecessary bulk. So what's the secret to finding the right peplum? Consider proportion. A flowy, understated version is the most universally flattering because it won't accentuate the hips, while solid colours or basic prints (think polka dots or simple stripes) can keep unwanted bulk at bay. Play with different styles and try different variations of the trend — be it in shirt, skirt or coat form — and you'll find the perfect fit for you in no time!

{Weekend Update} The Farmer's Market...

This weekend marked my official departure from shift work, because for the first time in a very long time, I had the entire weekend off! So what's a girl to do with all that extra time on her hands, you ask? Well, let me tell you: I visited the farmer's market and our local Fringe Festival, saw friends, cleaned house and — best of all — relaxed... What a concept! Top that off with HBO Sunday and some freshly manicured nails, and I'm one seriously happy girl.
