{Valentine's Week} The Pants...

As I write this, I'm slowly coming down from a sugar-induced Valentine's day high (you don't even want to know how many macarons I've had today!), where lethargy and writers block are apparently the main side effects. Mr. AiF surprised me with some special treats, bubbly and a homecooked meal, and now I'm crashing... hard. So with that said, it's time to wrap this thing up, people!

{Style Panel} Peplum & Polka Dots...

Peplum can be one of the most flattering, feminine silhouettes out there, but it can also be one of the least. Worn well (hello, Kate Middleton much?), it can yield diminutive waistlines and elongated figures. Worn poorly, and it can lead to exaggerated hips and unnecessary bulk. So what's the secret to finding the right peplum? Consider proportion. A flowy, understated version is the most universally flattering because it won't accentuate the hips, while solid colours or basic prints (think polka dots or simple stripes) can keep unwanted bulk at bay. Play with different styles and try different variations of the trend — be it in shirt, skirt or coat form — and you'll find the perfect fit for you in no time!

Stripes With Pep...

Casual stripes get some added ooomph with a pop of peplum in this little Zara top — And the best part? I scored it for 15 big ones during their spring sale last week (which is probably still going on)...  I think that calls for a fist pump, don't you? xx
