{Valentine's Week} The Pants...

As I write this, I'm slowly coming down from a sugar-induced Valentine's day high (you don't even want to know how many macarons I've had today!), where lethargy and writers block are apparently the main side effects. Mr. AiF surprised me with some special treats, bubbly and a homecooked meal, and now I'm crashing... hard. So with that said, it's time to wrap this thing up, people!

{Valentine's Week} Pink + Red...

You guys know I'm a sucker for girlie, over-the-top proclamations of love and the like (ummm, hello!), so naturally a theme week was in order... First up, the colour scheme. Nothing says Valentine's day quite like a little pink-and-red action, so to honour that I went waaaay overboard with both. Typical. To bring this point home, let me tell you a little story: When I described this outfit to my friend Ashley yesterday, she lifted her hand, drew a deep breath and matter-of-factly said "no" before I could get past the varsity jacket. She was probably right but what can I say, I'm a sucker for a little festive colour blocking... Bring it on, Valentine's! xx

The weekend is here, and I for one am mega excited (yes, I said mega) to kick back, relax and maybe even do a little shopping while Mr. AiF's out of town. Hey, when the cat's away, am I right? Nothing crazy, just a thing or two to spice things up a bit... You know what else I'm particularly looking forward to this weekend? Uninterrupted, quality time with my old pal Netfix without so much as a peep about my (totally awesome) movie selections... Looks like it's just going to be me and Teen Wolf this Friday night — hubba hubba.

If you take a minute to peruse my outfit details, you'll probably start to think that I'm a deadbeat blogger what with this cardigan, shirt and necklace all being Kastles'... In my defense, what's a girl to do when her bestie has so many cute clothes? Fair Isle is soooo my jam, so this cardi has been my new best friend ever since it came to stay at my house, and will you just look at that necklace? It's going to be hard to say goodbye, let me tell you... Hmmm, I wonder if she would notice if I moved away?

{Details} DVF Love...

If details are the spice of life, then this little DVF clutch is the spiciest of them all... Hubba hubba. I bought this back in NYC because it was the prettiest clutch I had ever seen — I mean come on, just look at it! That colour, that style, those hot lips... Man I'm in love. And do you know how I celebrated that love? You guessed it my friends, with sugar and sweet, sweet caffeine... Let's just say I know how to show a clutch a good time. xx

{Style} Hearted Girl...

A couple weeks ago I saw a pic of a heart sweater on my friend Kassie's blog and thought to myself, "Man, that's one cute sweater; I wish I had something like that to wear." About 30 seconds later I realized that I had a nearly identical sweater already in my wardrobe (last seen here) and that the only reasonable explanation for my memory lapse is that I hoard clothes like a mo-fo. Hey, what do ya do.

In other news, I'd like to draw your attention to my lips in this post... Notice anything different? You guessed it friends, I am sans red lipstick here. Not something I plan on making a habit of, but a fun little change nonetheless.

Today is all about simplicity: basic bermudas, stripes and sandals topped with a panama hat to protect my little noggin from all that blaring sun... Because really, what more do you need on a hot summer's day? Oh yeah, that's right — ice cream. How could I forget...

If loving polka dots is wrong then I don't want to be right... No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to get away from them lately! If they're not creeping up on a dress or some frilly top, they're right there on a clutch or a fun pair of shoes. What can I say? When I commit to something, I really commit to something...

Pretty Pastels...

Today's outfit is brought to you by H&M, that wonderful neighbourhood mass retailer who always knows what I need... And in this case, what I needed happened to be a mint green dress. The moment I saw it I just knew it had to be mine, and couldn't wait to pair it with this blazer that I bought there last year... Can you say pastel heaven? Sigh.

Palazzo...

I bought this jump suit last May thinking I would get a lot of wear out of it over the summer, but believe it or not,  I didn't get around to wearing until now! That's one whole year later, ladies and gentlemen... If this were Twitter, I would end this post with a hashtag disgraceful.

Cropped...

I'm kinda a big fan of crop tops, especially when they hail from decades past... Nothing beats an original (sorry, American Apparel), so scouring the racks of my local Value Village becomes something of an olympic sport where crop tops are concerned. This one was a prized-find last summer, when I scooped it up for only a couple of dollars in Victoria. And with the weather being as lovely as it currently is, I couldn't think of a better item to thrown on with shorts... Let the sun shine. xx
