{Remix} Shorts Story...

There's nothing I love more than a good pair of versatile, timeless shorts... Can you tell? I've only worn these faux leather lovelies like a million times, each of which never ceased to delight me with their diversity. From blouses and sweaters, to blazers and tights galore, the possibilities are endless where these not-so-basic basic shorts are concerned. Ooooh yeah.

And in other news, I apparently have a tendency to remix within remixes, especially where accessories are concerned. Exhibit A: quilted bag and booties. Is it a coincidence that they appeared twice in this remix roundup? I think not.

Back to School with West 49...

Back to school is one of the most wonderful times of the year — whether you're in school or not. The leaves turn red, new stationary is purchased (arguably the best part of all — at least if you're a total dork like me!) and we get a chance to refresh our wardrobes with lovely new layers... What's not to like?

So when West 49 asked me to style a back to school outfit from their new fall collection, I jumped at the chance. The brand isn't traditionally my style, but their latest offerings intrigued me, especially this sweater. I instantly knew I had to have it, and my mind raced with all the different ways I could wear it. Since the weather is still rather lovely, I threw on shorts, a bowler hat and my trusty satchel for a simple, school-inspired look. The best part? As the months get cooler, I can easily transition this sweater by pairing it with pants and boots or patterned tights and a great skirt... Oh the possibilities.

I had lots of fun picking out my new pieces (and was seriously tempted by this dress!), and was surprised by how affordable they were (always a bonus, no?). All in all it was an awesome experience, and I would recommend checking out their stuff for some fun, casual basics, especially if you've never thought to look there before... You might just be surprised.

Geek Chic...

I wasn't able to go home for Christmas this year, but Mr. AIF, the kitten and I had a lovely holiday all nestled at home... We opened gifts (I finally got the Wilfred scarf I had wanted for ever!), ate delicious food and watched loads of holiday movies (National Lampoons anyone?). The only time we left the house was to go on what we decided would become an annual Christmas walk — after all, that shortbread isn't going to burn itself off, now is it?

Wardrobe Wednesday...

Hello lovelies! How's everyone doing on this lovely Wednesday afternoon? I'm spending the day studying for a final on Friday, but I couldn't resist popping in to say hi to all of you!

So I bought these frames in the summer from Winners (for my American friends, think Marshalls or TJ Max), but I wasn't sure if I wanted to invest in prescription lenses for them, so I tucked them away in my closet without another thought. Fast forward a few months, and I'm seriously considering making these frames my regular specs... Sooooo, what do you guys think? Geek chic or train wreck? Give it to me straight, friends! xx
