{Style} Big News!!!

For the past four days I've been keeping a pretty major secret from you guys, and it's been killing me not to share my happy news with my closest online friends (you know, I had to get all those pesky real life people out of the way first!). Drumroll please... On Christmas Eve, Mr. AiF and I got engaged!!!! *Cue the fist pumping, jumping up and down and uncontrollable giggling*

I'll spill the details in a later post (one that's not just an outfit post featuring my new bling!), but because the past few days have been some of the happiest of my life, I just HAD to share the news with you guys! Yay!!!!

{Details} Casual Club...

Now don't judge, but every now and then I feel compelled to bring my vintage Club Monaco sweatshirt out of hibernation. I don't know what it is about that old, familiar logo and its circle-engulfed crest, but I love it. Maybe it's because these sweatshirts saw me through my childhood (that, and pacifier jewelry) making them steeped with nostalgia, or the fact that every crush I ever had ages eight through 10 sported these bad boys too. Shrug. Whatever it is, the CM sweatshirt is alive and well in my heart and on the blog today... I'm sorry and you're welcome. xx

{Copy Cat} Alexa Chung

I've admired Alexa Chung's style for quite some time now because, let's face it, the girl has a way with clothes. It doesn't hurt that she's tiny and gorgeous to the point where even a ratty old potato sack would look good on her, but I digress. Reflecting on what makes here style so iconic and enduringly chic, I think it all comes down to effortlessness and accessibility, and to prove it (at least the accessibility part), I pulled items from my existing wardrobe to mimic Alexa's style. Even though my version is nowhere near as spectacular as hers, I had a lot of fun recreating her look with items I already had in my closet... And if I can mimic her style with little-to-no effort, you can too.

Red Bow...

I'm not sure why, but I really enjoy looking like a little girl... Something about the cut of this dress reminds me of my 2nd grade wardrobe and, well, the bow headband kinda speaks for itself. Maybe it's some kind of revolt against getting older — or maybe it's just a sign of emotional immaturity — but either way, I'm digging the whole "eight-year-old girl" look... *shrug*

Winterized...

So it wasn't until I started editing these photos that I realized my skirt is waaay too short... I don't know what to say other than Forever 21 has some deceiving change room mirrors! Or maybe I was just so enchanted by the thought of a red corduroy skirt that I didn't care. Either way, I'm thinking this skirt and I might have to part ways... Them the breaks, right? xx

wardrobe wednesday...

For this week's edition of wardrobe wednesday, I thought I would show you my all-time favourite gloves... It is, after all, still winter here!

I actually bought these for my mom a couple of Christmases ago, but they were too tight and the store was sold out of larger sizes (how convenient), so I just ended up keeping them-- is that terrible? Anyway, they're super soft and nearly elbow length, making them my go-to for dressier occasions... plus the colour is unreal! The soft teal stands out yet somehow goes with everything-- it's a win-win.
