Wardrobe Wednesday...

I love accessories more than words, so when the days get longer and temperatures spike, there's nothing greater than piling on the bracelets and slipping into a pair of fun sandals. These accessories (shoes are kind of an accessory, right?) have been my go-tos this week, elevating them to Wardrobe Wednesday status. Of particular note is the pink spike bracelet and studded collar — both from The Bay — and the jelly sandals I bought last year at Winners (they're like walking on air!). The take away? It doesn't take much to make me happy; just a simple skull or spike will do.

{Travel Diary} Wardrobe Wednesday

Before leaving for my trip, I was lucky enough to be gifted this adorable polka dot bikini and oversized hat by La Vie En Rose... How cute are they? I wore both pieces a ton while I was away, and received many a compliment on the bikini (because really, who doesn't love polka dots?). Although I wasn't brave enough to take pics of me actually in the bathing suit, I figured this would be the next best thing... And the world shares a collective sigh of relief.

Nothing says summer to me more than stripes and straw hats, so I've had both on steady repeat this past month... And when I found these cute little shades at Forever 21, it was as if I had completed the holy trinity of summer dressing. Throw in a rosary for good measure, and you've got yourself party.

Wardrobe Wednesday...

I like big shades and I cannot lie, you other bloggers can't deny... OK, I guess that's enough of that, but the point I'm trying to make here is that I love me some oversized sunnies. When I saw these bad boys at Urban Outfitters last week, I just couldn't resist. They reminded me of my beloved Karen Walkers, only pastel, scalloped and for a fraction of the price... In fact, they were only $20! What can I say, one look at these, and I was sprung.

I love jewelry more than words, so try as I might, I just can't stop collecting it... That's why my heart practically skipped a beat when I saw this panther ring at Forever 21 a few weeks ago, which ended in a mad dash to the cash register before that nagging little voice in my head (which, coincidentally, sounds a lot like my boyfriend) caught up with me... Watch for me on an upcoming episode of Hoarders, ladies and gentlemen — I'll be the one with the rat trail leading through my accessories collection.

I might be a little late to the Toms party, but at least I'm arriving in neon-y goodness, right? Although these aren't exactly my style — which is precisely why I've avoided them for so long — the whole comfort factor, coupled with the fact that they now come in neon hues, had me sold. Hey, better late than never, right? xx

Floral Week: Wardrobe Wednesday

Although I can't walk in them to save my life, I still love my Miu Miu-inspired F21 Mary Janes so... Just looking at them makes me happy! But about five minutes online revealed a whole other crop of floral-print goodness in the shoe department, and now I'm seriously contemplating a floral overhaul where my feet are concerned... Can you think of anything sweeter?

Wardrobe Wednesday...

To spend or not to spend, that is the question... And from where I'm sitting, often times there's no need. Although the allure of the designer brand can be palpable, there are countless inexpensive solutions to most lust-worthy items. Now don't get me wrong, there's no substitution for a Chanel 2.55 bag — or whichever designer good happens to ranks high on your personal fashion hierarchy (but seriously, what tops Chanel?) — but why spend when you don't have to? Take this beach bag example... The J.Crew version looks quite similar to the Michael Kors bag, but financially speaking, one could not be more different from the other... So in the words of John Quinones, "What would you do?" Shell out the big bucks for this seasonal item, or opt for something a little easier on the old wallet? I think this one might be a no-brainer.

I'm a sucker for statement necklaces, and this one from Forever 21 was no exception... It instantly reminded me of the House of Harlow version (which I totally was crushing on!), only minus the hefty price tag. In fact, this necklace was less than $12! Not too shabby...

Wardrobe Wednesday...

I can't get enough of these sunnies lately... I don't know if it's the colours, styles or what, but I'm all about them, all the time. It's come to the point where I just want to buy more and more varieties, until my bag is brimming with eyewear options for every mood and occasion... Take these Forever 21 sunnies (above) that I bought last week for example — the colour is phenom, and I love the rounded, vintage shape. Plus they were super cheap  ($6.80!), which is always fine by me. Similarly, I have mad love for my H&M Against AIDS Zach Morris-inspired shades (can you blame me?!) as well as my trusty Karen Walkers, so I'll spare you the additional sunglass-related gushing and just quit while I'm ahead...

Wardrobe Wednesday // Instagram Edition

I love shopping as much as the next girl, but I've been trying to cutback a bit this month as a bit of a personal challenge... Now I know you must be thinking 'Wow, she must really hate herself,' but I assure you, I do not... I just wanted to try my hand at reducing my clothing consumption while making more out of what I already have. And although I've picked up a couple things here and there (see my Forever 21 jewelry haul above!), it feels pretty darn good saving money for a change... Go figure.

So for this week's Wardrobe Wednesday I thought it best to focus on some cherished accessories and my new favourite store, with only minimal attention paid (no pun!) to new purchases... I must be turning a new leaf or something! xx

Believe it or not, but sometimes I get more enjoyment from buying cute little accessories than full-on outfits... I don't know what it is, but there's a certain promise that comes from scouting the perfect scarf or a pop-of-colour-packed belt — Like you've cleverly found a way to stretch your wardrobe and spice up those tired-old tops and dresses... And for someone who's now on a self-imposed shopping ban (I know, crazy right?!), that's pretty darn appealing. xx

Wardrobe Wednesday...

I don't know what it is about Bang Bang Bijoux, but every time I see it I just can't resist... I don't know if it's the vintage, one-of-a-kind appeal, their whimsical aesthetic or the fact that the designer behind the label is pretty much the sweetest thing ever, but I go crazy over the stuff... Seriously. That's why I had to come home with this little key necklace last weekend after Royal Bison. How cute it is?! I love how  the key is lacquered in that delightful shade of turquoise, and the two-tone chain makes my heart sing... *sigh*

Wardrobe Wednesday...

I don't know what it is about House of Harlow, but whenever I come into contact with it, I can't seem to control myself... If you leave me alone with the stuff long enough, I pretty much black out and come to hours later with jewels everywhere — Dangerous. So when I came across their Aztec Bangle last week at Coup, I knew right then and there that that baby was coming home with me... Because really, what's the point of fighting it? Oh HoH, you are the achilles tendon of jewelry.

There's nothing quite like a straw hat on a warm summer's day... Or in my case, a sunny day with minimal wind. Hey, I live in Edmonton — I'll take what I can get. Anyway, I got this cute little boater hat from Forever 21 about a month ago, and waited not-so-patiently for the right moment to wear it... Definitely worth the wait.

Wardrobe Wednesday...

I don't know if you guys remember, but when I moved back to Edmonton last summer I somehow lost a box filled with all my favourite jewelry... So after tearing apart my house (and getting my mom to do the same in Victoria), I finally came to terms with the fact that it was gone... Forever.

Heartbroken, I tried to move on by treating myself to some new baubles, but the memory of my three favourite necklaces haunted me... Until one fateful day when I was looking for some shoes to wear, and unsuspectingly opened a box to find — joy of joys — my long lost jewelry! Eeeek! Needless to say, screaming ensued and I've been wearing my old favourites ever since... Things just have a funny way of working out, huh?

Wardrobe Wednesday...

Now that the snow has melted, my feet feel anew with all the footwear options at their disposal... Oxfords? Of course! Slingbacks? Sure! Peep toes? Why not! And as far as material is concerned, canvas is leading the charge to my feet's heart — so to speak. That's why I couldn't resist these polka dot lovelies at Forever 21 last week. They're cute, comfy and seasonally appropriate... And even though they ever so slightly resemble clown bowling shoes, my feet and I are seriously smitten. xx

How cute is this ring? The lovely Georgia of Social Experiment was nice enough to send it my way, and I've been wearing it non-stop ever since... It's just so simple and pretty, and it reminds me of home on the west coast (which is what inspires this Vancouver-based designer's handmade creations). All in all, I'm head over heels... Thanks, Georgia!

Last week I had this crazy idea to throw on all my favourite rings for a photo and, well, now you're looking at it... Can you tell that I like oversized rings? I don't know if it was all the extra weight or the fact that it was freezing out, but my fingers were seriously stiff afterward... But it was totally worth it.
